Translating "天牖", acupuncture point TB-16
The reasoning for translating "天牖" as "Lattice Window to Heaven" from Chinese into English. This is the original name of acupuncture point TB-16 (Triple Burner 16).
Explanation of the point name
牖 is usually translated as "window," so that the pointname would be "Heaven's Window," or something similar.
Point SI-16 天窗 also contains a character with the meaning of "window," namely 窗, and can hardly be translated otherwise. That could result in the same translation for these two point names. Apparently, 牖 means something else here.
However, 牖 is not really a window made of a sheet of glass and nothing else. This kind of window has a lattice over it, that makes it harder to look through it, or to make eye contact with a person on the other side of it.
Another old meaning of this character is "to guide, enlighten, educate." However, this point doesn't really have an effect that can me interpreted as such.
Hence, "Lattice Window to Heaven."
